Streaks, cards & badges

The motivation layer, and why it's built the way it is.

Streaks (the forgiving kind)

Doing lessons on a school day keeps the streak alive. Life happens, though, so every kid gets 2 streak freezes a month: miss a day and a freeze is spent automatically instead of resetting to zero. Weekends and non-school days never break a streak.

Rascal cards

Finishing the whole daily queue earns a card pack: tear it open for collectible cards starring the five rascals in different scenes and rarities. There are 100 to collect.

Card collection The collection. Legendary and epic cards get full-art treatment.

Badges

Bigger milestones (first mastery, a 7-day streak, mastering 100 lessons, 20 words per minute typing, winning a race) unlock badges.

Achievements Locked badges show how to earn them, so they work as goals too.

What we deliberately don't do

No leaderboards, no comparing kids to each other, no social layer, and nothing to buy with real money. The rewards celebrate showing up and mastering things, and that's it.

Rascal Bucks were retired in July 2026. Kids no longer earn or see a Bucks balance, Bucks button, or Bucks-themed badge. Historical records are preserved, but streaks, badges, personal bests, and card packs are the complete reward system now.
