How the daily queue, lesson colors, and real mastery work.
The daily queue
Every school day, Rascals builds a short queue of lessons for each kid: unfinished work carried forward first, then lessons due for another pass, then new material across their subjects. You control how many lessons per day (the default is 3) and which weekdays count as school days.
The queue lives at the top of the kid's home screen.
Guided vs Free learn
- Guided (default): the subject grid stays locked until today's queue is done. Required work first, exploring after.
- Free learn: the grid is always open. The queue still shows as a suggestion.
Switch modes anytime in parent settings.
What a lesson looks like
Each lesson has four beats: a short intro, an interactive activity, a 2-3 question check, and a summary with a real-life extension to try off screen. After a correct check answer, the explanation stays put until the kid taps Next question, so there is no rush to read it.
The intro. The play button reads it aloud with word highlighting.
The hands-on part. Every activity is touch-friendly.
What the colors mean
- White: not started.
- Yellow: cleared. The kid got it right once, and the next lesson unlocks right away.
- Green: mastered. In math, reading, spelling, and grammar, that takes 3 correct passes spread across different days, each with fresh numbers or words.
That spacing is on purpose. One good day proves they can do it; three spaced passes prove they'll still know it next month. Lessons that need another pass come back through the daily queue automatically, so nobody has to manage a review schedule.
A subject page. Lessons unlock in order within each unit, and finishing a whole grade unlocks the next one for that subject.
No dead ends
If a kid masters everything at their grade in one subject, the next grade unlocks automatically for that subject only. A kid can be grade 4 in math and grade 2 in reading at the same time, and nobody is held back or rushed.
