Otto, the AI coach
A Socratic tutor who gives hints, never answers, and keeps receipts.
Who Otto is
Otto is the little inventor rascal in the corner of every kid page. Kids can ask him for help anytime, and lessons offer a hint button that pops him open.
Otto knows what page and lesson the kid is on, so hints are specific.
The rules Otto lives by
- He never gives the answer. He asks the next-smallest question that helps the kid find it themselves.
- He knows the current lesson, so his hints are about the actual problem on screen.
- He uses plain language, no idioms, and short messages for early readers.
- No ads, no upsells, nothing to click away to.
Built by a paranoid professional
Rascals is built by an AI security researcher, and Otto is designed like someone assumed the worst first:
- Every conversation is saved and readable by you in the parent console under Coach transcripts.
- Messages that look concerning (distress, safety) are flagged and surfaced to you with a warning marker.
- Otto can't browse the web, can't contact anyone, and only sees the kid's learning context.
If your kid asks Otto something you'd want to know about, the transcript is the first place to look.
